I was about to go out for an easy 5-6mile run when Katrina said she felt ready for an easy run today so I suggested we go together. Katrina fancied doing about 3-4miles so we ran 3 miles together and then I ran a couple more.
Initially I’d said to Katrina to have 2 weeks off but her legs are feeling a lot better than she thought they would so she decided to run. I reckon she has truly caught the running bug!! After a week off she was itching to run again.
As we ran we chatted about our plans for next year. The focus for Katrina for the first third of the year is the Highland Fling. So we decided the plan is as follows …
October to November – easy runs with some cross training
December - some speed work and focusing on our club Christmas and New Year races
January to April – build up the mileage with a long run on the whw route each month
For our long runs something like …
end of January – Milngavie to Drymen and back (24miles)
end of February – Balmaha to Inversnaid & back (28miles)
or Rowardennan to Beinglas & back (30miles)
end of March – Drymen to Tyndrum (41miles)
I’m also thinking about my training for the Lakeland 100 at the end of July but my training partner Dave Troman is pouring over the maps working out some great training runs for us. Can’t wait.
It is really good to be back into some sort of running routine. I’m going to go along to the club tomorrow night but just for an easy run rather than doing the full session. So this week I’m planning to run Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
