News on my foot …

My foot is feeling sore today and looks swollen. I have decided to be sensible and not to run until it stops hurting. I’m not sure how long that will be. I have booked an appointment with my doctor in case it is infected. I can’t complain really as this is the first injury I’ve had for 18 months and in that time I’ve run 3 ultras. I hope I can sort it out quickly.

The Loch Ness Marathon is just under four weeks away but to be honest my real priority is next year and the three ultra races on the whw route I’ve entered so I’m determined to sort this out and not worry about missing training runs for Loch Ness.

Here are a couple of photos …. what do you think? Any ideas of what I should do?

My right foot is swollen

There is hard skin on the ball of my foot and it feels tender

My new garmin 205 arrived today! So I now have my new watch but I’m not running!!

John, Still on holiday so I hope this comment logs ok. Looks to me like a bit of bursitis in there. Get ice on it if you haven´t already, get it above your heart height i..e. lie back and get your feet up! ibropofen gel and anti inflammatories. Then give it time. Absolutely no running meantime. Keep posting progress…Davie

Other possibility is serious bruising in fatty pad under your joint. Same treatment

That does not look nice. I am really sorry. But it can be fixed and you will be as new (or even better!)Could be cellulitis similar to the problem Marco had. Fixed with antibiotics. Maybe a splinter causing an infection/inflammation?Best to see a podiatrist.Rest is not a bad idea. You have had a superb season so far. Maybe it is time now to take it easy anyway. That’s easy to say obviously. All the best!
