A lovely morning to get up and out for a run. I ran an out and back on the cycle track. I used to do this route every week on a Wednesday but now that I run with the Club I’ve not done it for ages. It is very peaceful and I ran a nice steady pace. I was aiming for around 8 min a mile pace and was just under.
I have been thinking about last Saturday’s race a bit more and did a comparison of the three Flings I’ve done ….
Comparing the last two years I started similar but this year I was 13mins faster on the Drymen to Rowardennan leg but 13mins slower on the Rowardennan to Beinglas leg and another 13mins slower on the last leg. If you’re wondering how I was only 5mins slower overall it’s because these figures don’t take into account stop times and I stopped for a lot less this year.
So a question is, would have I been better to be 10mins slower into Rowardennan? Then I could have pushed on. It has certainly given me something to think about as I prepare for the whw race in 7 weeks time.
I have now been doing my new job as an Active Schools Coordinator for a month and I’m really enjoying the new challenges. It’s been a shock to the sytem working full time again (plus Saturday swimming lessons!) after my 3 and half days a week for the past 6months! I’ve been into most of the schools I’m working with and they have all been very helpful. I’m looking forward to working with them all.
Finally just to let you know that Katrina received her prize for being the closest in my ‘Guess my Time’ competition – a couple of cd’s. Our new (to us) car has a cd player so she can listen to them on her way to work.
There will be another competition coming up for the main whw race!!
