Review of last night’s race

I was very surprised this morning to wake up and discover my foot was nowhere near as bad as I’d expected it to be. I can still feel it but it feels a lot better than earlier in the week.

So I decided to run home even though it meant running on the road rather than the grass. It was a lovely early evening and I enjoyed an easy run home.

Here are a few pictures from last night’s race ….

The start
John McL finishing strongly

Me near the finish looking in pain!!

Katrina looking good!
The results were up on the Ivine Ac web site by this morning. I came 49th out of 204 finishers in the official time of 40mins 18secs.

I thought that I wasn’t in quite the right shape to get under 40mins but it has given me something to aim for in the Paisley 10k which 10days away. I don’t do a lot of 10ks but that is the first time I’ve been over 40mins. So we’ll have to see whether last night was a one-off or the shape of things to come!!

Here are my splits for the race last night ….

Maybe I went off a little too quick. Looking at the splits my 4th k was slower and then the 6th and 8th & 9th k were off the pace. It is interesting that a group of 4 guys caught and left me during the 8th & 9th k. This was because I was slowing rather than they were getting faster.

I was pleased to see that I had something left to push the final k. The above picture shows I was working pretty hard at the end!

Thurs 19th Aug Run Details
6.04miles in 45mins 58secs (7.37pace)
