I set up this blog (Oct 06) to record my training and thoughts in preparing for the 2007 WHW Race – a 95 mile ultra race from Milngavie to Fort William.
I have now run 52 ultras over the past 14 years including the whw 6 times and you can read all about them, watch my race videos and lots more by using the tabs at the top of the blog.

Last night I went to the Scottish Athletics Awards Dinner at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow as part of the Kilbarchan group. It was a lovely meal and a good night. The guest of honour was Daley Thompson. He was interviewed by Frank Dick but unfortunately some of the questions were longer than the answers!
Daley is an engaging character and lots of good stories. He reckons that today’s athletes don’t have as much fun as he did in his day!
I didn’t get a chance to have my photo with him but I did take one of the Scottish Commonwealth Games Track and Field team including Kilbarchan’s Clare Gibson with Daley.
I also had a quick chat with Mark Cooper who ran 50 marathons from Amsterdam to Barcelona in 56 days this summer. Mark won an inspiration award and is planning to run the Highland Fling amongst others next year.
I was following my friend Dave Troman yesterday in the OMM on Dartmoor. Here is a trace of his route yesterday …
I’m not sure that Dave and Simon will be happy with 13th place. Anyway I hope they have a good day today and move up the placings.
This morning I was up and out for a run before church. I was feeling pretty good so decided to push a bit harder and was quick enough to count it as a tempo run (it must be under 7.25pace!). Definitely my faster run for a while and it felt good!!
5.25miles in 38mins 09secs (7.17pace)
