‘Top Motivator’ Award

Another easy run this morning. The highlight of the run was seeing Christina and Elspeth from Kilbarchan out for their easy run after superb runs on Saturday at the National Cross Country.
I mentioned last week that I’d won an award and today I had my photo taken receiving it!
The Glasgow Evening Times have been running a campaign over the past year encouraging people to quit smoking, do more exercise and adopt a healthier diet.
To finish off the campaign they wanted to give out 10 awards in various categories.
I was nominated for the award ‘Top Motivator’ for my work last year with the mile-a-thon project when I encouraged all my five primary schools to run a marathon over 13 weeks – 1mile one lunchtime and 1mile at home.
We had over 1,000 children in all the schools taking part and those who stuck with the programme ran the final mile and 385 yards together as a big fun run at Bellahouston Park.
So I was chuffed to win the award and be presented with the trophy. I gather it will be in a supplement of the Evening Times on 2nd March.

As you can see I wore my whw top for the occasion but sadly no-one asked me about it!!!

Here is a close up of the award!! ….

Well done John, something to sit pride of place beside the Goblets

  3. Woohoo. That's fabulous, JK. So happy for you. Very well deserved.

I used to work for the Evening Times, so I can get you photos/PDFs when the supplement comes out.

Given JK's fine achievement in Glasgow, what I've just been reading about elsewhere (not Glasow!) is kind of ironic:

“With the money the Council saves by closing the swimming pool, it will pay for a series of television adverts warning us of the dangers of obesity”

  5. Well done John. A fantastic achievement and well deserved. You certainly have motivated me throughout the years. 😀
    See you on Sunday.
