I took a couple of days off Monday/Tuesday as Katrina had half term. Yesterday we decided to climb Ben Lomond.
I knew that Dave Troman was running from Balmaha to Tyndrum and I hoped we’d see him somewhere on the way to Rowardennan.
We saw him on a road bit so perfect timing. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes. He was going well and trying hard to hold himself back. Our conversation ranged from today’s run to training for Lakeland 100, to the Hoka shoes he’s wearing to our walk.
I’m really looking forward to our training runs in the Lakes. The first one is just over two weeks away. I couldn’t let him go without a photo …
There were quite a few people climbing up Ben Lomond. The conditions were great until the last mile or so when it got very icy and we were envelopped in cloud. We were wearing our running shoes so didn’t have the best of grips.
Anyway we made it to the top and have a photo to prove it … though to be fair you’ll have to take my word for it!
So back in work today. Tonight we were back for our club tempo run. In my group there were four of us, Davie, Gordon, Tony & I. We opted for our Paisley loop but ran it in reverse for a change.
I’ve had a bit of a sore throat and cough over the last few days and came home from work feeling a bit grotty and tired. I slept for an hour or so on the couch and was feeling a bit better by the time it came to run.
I set off not quite sure whether I’d run the full route but once we got going I felt fine and thankfully the pace wasn’t too fast. We spent the run chatting which kept my mind off how grotty I was feeling! I feel a lot better after the run so I’m glad I went!
I’m enjoying monitoring my heart rate with the My Trek product. I’ll do a proper review in a day or so. Anyway here is the graph of my heart rate for the run.
My average heart rate for the 9mile run was 132bpm with a maximum of 150.
My plan for the rest of the week is to cycle to and from work tomorrow. An easy 4-5mile run on Friday and then our 35mile run on the whw on Sunday.
