I was keen to run a tempo session today to see how my hamstring would cope. I gave myself permission to ease off if I felt it at all but thankfully it was fine and I really enjoyed it.
I did an easy mile to warm up, then 5 miles at tempo pace – aiming for around 7mins per mile. I felt pretty good all the way through but the final mile which is mainly uphill was hard work!!
I was so pleased to run a bit quicker and feel okay. Plus it was dry for the majority of the run which was a bonus!!
Last week when I noted the various ways I record my runs I missed out the spreadsheet above! For my tempo, fartlek and hill runs I like to keep a record of them on a second sheet like the one above.
For 2014 I joined a Facebook group set up by Karen Robertson. The idea is to run 2014 miles in 2014. I must admit I did it as an after thought as I normally aim for around 2,000 mile anyway so why not!
Tim had a nice little graph to keep him on track so I decided to make one as well. So here is where I am after 15 days of 2015 ….
I tend to do more miles in the first half of the year than the second so I expect to be above the red line for most of the year!
If you would like to use the spreadsheet then feel free to download. All you have to do is put your daily mileage in the yellow column (in the spreadsheet) and it will keep you right!
Finally there has been a lot of chatter on Facebook today about UTMB as the entries were published today. So far I’ve heard of a number of friends who have a place.
I was particularly pleased to hear that Dave Troman has a place. I’m looking forward to following his training and the race itself! Skiddaw is going to get some serious action!!
Sadly some have missed out but hopefully their turn will come.
Thanks for the link to the spreadsheet. I’m trying it again this year after failing last year. I was on track until injury in October took me out for a month and then rehab afterwards killed my mileage. Starting from a much higher base this year so fingers crossed.
No problem Dan. Hope your running goes well this year!
