Cross Country Races and easy run

Today was one of my favourite work days!  As an Active Schools team we had almost 400 P6 & P7 children running cross country. There are 10 Active Schools Coordinators in the South Glasgow area and we all organise our own cross country heats with our schools.

Then the top 10 from each race go through to the South final which was today.  So there are 100 children in each race. The weather was really kind to us and we had a great morning with some great races.

Here am I briefing the children encouraging them to start steady and run right to the end!

XC 1 - FebHere is the start of the P6 boys race ….

xc 2 - febI love being at the finish to encourage them and congratulate them on running the 1 mile course.  I wonder if there were any future ‘ultra’ runners out there this morning.

Finally a photo of our team and a couple of volunteers who helped us ..

Once home I headed out for an easy 6mile run.  I didn’t look at my watch at all just trying to run nice and easy without breathing too hard.

Talking of cross country I’ve seen that our Kilbarchan Cross Country Championships is onSunday. It normally doesn’t fit in with my ultra training but this weekend I’d planned a couple of easy runs on the Braes so I’ve decided to do an easy 11 miles on Saturday and then run in the club Cross Country on Sunday.  I can use my Inov-8 X-Talons!!
