Plans for Marathon de Ben Nevis

In my taper week I’ve had two easy runs before work on Tuesday and Thursday. I felt really good on both runs and certainly feel ready for Saturday’s 42 mile ultra. I can’t say I feel 100% prepared as it’s only 8 weeks since the Lakeland 100 so it is what it is.

I put down sub 7:30 for my gold medal goal but it’s always a bit difficult when I haven’t been round the whole course.

I like to have some idea of where I need to be at each checkpoint so I’ve worked out a bit of a plan.

Ben Nevis plan

I will be aiming to keep my heart rate around 140 so it will be interesting to see how close I am to these splits.

I have 31 guesses for my ‘Guess My Time’ competition so if you want to take part you have until 6pm tonight (Thursday)!

  1. The course looks pretty amazing Weather forecast looks perfect so no worries there. All looks good for having a fun race. I think your gold target is pretty reasonable goal, I’ll go for 7:24:42.7 purely for symmetry. Good luck 🙂
