Weekend non-runs!

I mentioned on my last post that my knee was sore during my Thursday lunchtime run. During the evening and Friday it became really really sore to the extent that it was really painful to bend so I was walking with a peg leg.

It felt like I had banged it but I couldn’t remember hurting it until I remembered an incident on Monday at an after school club in one of the schools where I work. Basically there was a group of P1 children listening to the coach.

I was walking backwards away from the group and I didn’t realise that there was a child behind me. I tripped over his outstretched legs and fell really heavily to the ground. I was more embarrassed that anything and quickly got up and sat down.

I didn’t think I had done any damage as I ran on Monday night and Wednesday lunchtime without any trouble (except my calves were sore but that’s a different story!).

I found it interesting that it was a few days later that it was sore. To be honest I was quite relived when I realised what caused it as it was not a running related injury and should clear up once it heals.

It was feeling a bit better on Saturday morning. I took some nurofen which seemed to help with the swelling. It is now Sunday evening and on a scale of 1-10 it is at 2 so hopefully I’ll be able to run again tomorrow.

Yesterday we were up in Glencoe as Matt and Dawn had asked me to conduct their wedding. They wanted to get married outside at the Glencoe Cottages. It was a real privilege to be asked and to be involved. It was a very special day.
