Midweek runs and Great Glen recce plans

This week I have had two runs. On Tuesday night I went out with Katrina for a run after work. Katrina was concerned that I might want to go faster than she wanted to but it ended up me holding her back!  Anyhow we had a good 6.14 mile run at 8:20 pace and it felt okay.

Today (Thursday) I went for a run from work just after 3pm and it was pretty warm. As soon as I set off I felt so much better than I have for the past few weeks. I didn’t look at my watch and just ran steady but it felt good.

I was pleased to see that I’d covered the 5.64 miles at 7:22 pace and more importantly nothing was hurting and while I wasn’t bouncing along I definitely felt my legs had a little more ‘go’ in them.

I’m really looking forward to my run on Saturday. I had arranged a few weeks ago to have a recce on the Great Glen course with my friend Ryan M. Ryan and Bekki live near Inverness and Ryan has run the race a couple of times and knows it well.

So the plan is for me to drive up tomorrow afternoon after work and stay with Ryan, Bekki and their family. We will catch the 8.45am bus to Invermoriston and then run the last 30 miles of the course.

Bekki & Orrin are going to meet us at a couple of points along the way to supply us with some food and encouragement!

I’ll then drive home hopefully arriving in time to watch England vs Russia in the Euros!
