This past week I’ve been off work as it was Emma, Yonas & Noah’s last full week before they fly home too Indonesia next Wednesday. So here is a summary of my runs and family activities ….
Monday
In the morning we took all three grandsons to the On-X swimming pool for their baby swimming session. I was allowed to go as well so it was me and about 25 mums/grandmothers! It was great fun and our boys all enjoyed being dunked under the water!
In the evening I joined Kilbarchan for our regular Fartlek session. This week it was 1min (30sec recovery), 3min, (90secs), 5 min (2min), 5min (2min), 2min (1min), 5min (2min), 5min (2min) 3min (90secs), 1min.
There were 6 of us and I spent the session trying to stay as close to Ryan as I could. On the final 5min run I just about managed to hold him off though I think he started a little further back than the other sets.
Tuesday
We had a day out at Calderglen Country Park in the lovely sunshine. Here are some photos …
Wednesday
In the morning I went out for a run in the rain. I was keen to do a Tempo run so did my easy/hard mile session. I felt a bit sluggish on the first one but got a bit a faster as the run progressed.
- Easy – 9:13
- Hard – 8:02

In the afternoon we visited my sister and her family and my Mum. It was fun catching up with them.
Thursday
Emma & Yonas were keen to have a walk so we took them to Conic Hill. The weather great and we all really enjoyed it.
Friday
We were thrilled to be invited to Andy & Sarah’s Wedding in Shipley. Andy & Sarah supported me on my Hardmoors 160 race so it was lovely to be involved in their wedding and enjoy the day with them and their friends and family.
Saturday
As part of Andy & Sarah’s wedding weekend they invited as many friends and guests to join them for the Bradford parkrun so we didn’t need asking twice.
It was a tough little course. Three laps and you were either going up or down. There didn’t seem to be much flat! There were over 400 running and I set off a few rows back. I was going past people for the first few minutes and then settled into a position and ran as hard as I could for the 5k.
I finished 15th in 21:17 so I was very happy with that. Andy & Sarah ran together and I’sure got lots of cheers along the way. Photos thanks to Jon Steele …

Sunday
I was up and out for my regular run around the Gleniffer Braes this morning. I was feeling good so pushed as hard as I could. Half way round it was really good to see Davie Mewes who was also out for a run. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes before heading our separate ways.
So a decent week running wise. I have worked out a rough training plan for the next 6 weeks leading up to my next ultra so I’ll post that in the next few days.
