Linwood parkrun

This year I have enjoyed being able to run a parkrun the week before an ultra so thought it would be a good idea to do the same before next weekend’s Wooler Trail Marathon.

I’ve been really pleased with my running over the past few weeks so was optimistic of going quicker than the 19:16 I ran a week before the Lakes in a day ultra. I was hoping to get as close to 19mins as I could but it wasn’t to be!

I set off fairly near the front and as it turned out the perfect spot as I only caught two runners and was only overtaken by one runner near the end.

My plan was to try and run the three miles at an even pace but looking at my splits I wasn’t close to achieving that …

I felt comfortable enough over the first mile but I paid for it on the last one.  Ah well at least it was a parkrun and not next Sunday! I will make sure I’m really disciplined for that one and go off as comfortable as possible.

There were some good runners out this morning. I was 11th but I was over 3 mins behind the winner. It was good to see Bobby Quinn running Linwood for the first time.

Katrina had a good run recording a pb for the Linwood course. The age graded results sees us both high up on the leader board!

The plan for next week is easy runs on Monday and Wednesday before Sunday’s Trail Marathon at Wooler.
