In my taper week I’ve had two easy runs before work on Tuesday and Thursday. I felt really good on both runs and certainly feel ready for Saturday’s 42 mile ultra. I can’t say I feel 100% prepared as it’s only 8 weeks since the Lakeland 100 so it is what it is.
I put down sub 7:30 for my gold medal goal but it’s always a bit difficult when I haven’t been round the whole course.
I like to have some idea of where I need to be at each checkpoint so I’ve worked out a bit of a plan.
I will be aiming to keep my heart rate around 140 so it will be interesting to see how close I am to these splits.
I have 31 guesses for my ‘Guess My Time’ competition so if you want to take part you have until 6pm tonight (Thursday)!
The course looks pretty amazing Weather forecast looks perfect so no worries there. All looks good for having a fun race. I think your gold target is pretty reasonable goal, I’ll go for 7:24:42.7 purely for symmetry. Good luck 🙂
Thanks .. working on a HR of 140 as per your spread sheet!
It’ll be interesting to see how you get on. After his race you should a good spread of times/distances to plot against actual race HR. Then you’d be able to compare against the spreadsheet numbers. There’s a geeky article just waiting to be written there 🙂
I was thinking it might be good to revisit the spread sheet now that I have more accurate data from my races this year.
