Katrina & I fancied doing the parkrun at Pollok on Christmas Day. We met up with Neal & Caroline and Christopher, Susan and their children Evan and Rebecca before the race and we all started together with over 400 runners.
We hadn’t arrived in time for a warm up and to be honest I wasn’t feeling too good as I had a sore throat so used the first half mile or so to warm up then decided I didn’t feel too bad so started to pick up the pace a bit.
Neal decided to come with me so we ran together for most of the first lap. We were passing lots of runners which was good fun! On the short sharp hill Neal pushed on a bit and gradually pulled away on the second loop.
I was still catching and going past runners and tried to run as hard as I could for the rest of the race. I finished 78th in 21mins 50mins. I was happy with that considering how I was feeling on Christmas Eve.
It was good to chat to all the others about their runs and plans for the day. We headed home for a shower then with my Mum and Hollie we went over to Neal and Caroline’s for a Christmas breakfast. Thanks.
For there rest of the year I plan to run Saturday then Monday before finishing 2014 in the way I started the year with a race. This time it is our Kilbarchan AAC 11 mile Handicap Race which I’m looking forward to. It’s a tough course so is always a good test.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas Day and you are all enjoying the holiday period.
