This week was a taper week with my first ultra of 2019 on Saturday 16th March - Hardmoors 50.
I had two taper runs on Monday and Wednesday before the race on Saturday.
Full race report from Hardmoors 55 to come.
Monday 11th March - Lunchtime Run
- 5.89 miles in 54:03
- Ascent - 400ft
I was able to run at lunchtime and did my normal Pollok Park off road run. I took it nice and steady and spent most of the run thinking about the Hardmoors 50 race.
I have done the race 5 times before and been on the route another few times for the 110 (twice) and 160 so I know the route pretty well. This means that I can spent the run visualising the route.
It’s funny how I always have a really good race when I visualise it!!
Tuesday 12th March - cycle to and from work
- 10.89 miles
Wednesday 13th March - Lunchtime Run
- 6.02 miles in 51:13
- Ascent - 294
Another run at lunchtime but this time I stayed on the roads. Nice and steady with the main aim of keeping my legs ticking over.
I feel ready for Saturday and will have a couple of days with no running before the race.
Friday 15th March - weigh-in
- 11st 6 1/8lbs
I’ll be very happy if I can stay at this weight for the Dragon’s Back race.
Saturday 16th March - Hardmoors 50
- 52.76 miles in 12:49:20
- Ascent - 8212
Full report to come but the short version is I was happy with my run in very difficult conditions of wind and rain - mostly straight on!
Congratulations to the following who were the three closest guesses in my ‘Guess My Time’ competition.
